Welcome to Shaka Nomad

Wallet, Gift Cards and Promotions Policy

Version: August 20, 2025

This Wallet, Gift Cards and Promotions Policy explains how wallet balance, account credit, gift cards, bonus credit, discount codes, welcome bonuses, referral rewards, and marketing promotions work on the Shaka Nomad Platform.

This Policy supplements the Shaka Nomad Terms and Conditions, Changes and Cancellations Policy, Privacy Policy, Affiliates Agreement, and Provider Adherence Contracts. If there is any conflict between this Policy and a specific promotion, gift card, checkout condition, or campaign rule displayed to the Customer before purchase or redemption, the specific condition shall apply, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

1. Definitions

For the purposes of this Policy:

“Account Credit” means wallet balance issued to a Customer from an eligible refund, cancellation, order adjustment, support resolution, or manual account adjustment approved by Shaka Nomad.

“Bonus Credit” means promotional wallet balance granted free of charge by Shaka Nomad through campaigns, referral programs, welcome bonuses, loyalty rewards, “Bring a Friend” promotions, customer rewards, or similar marketing actions.

“Checkout” means the purchase flow through which a Customer pays for one or more Experiences, Products, Gift Cards, shipping charges, taxes, fees, or other eligible items made available through the Platform.

“Discount Code” means a promotional code that reduces the payable amount of eligible items at Checkout, subject to the applicable conditions.

“Experience” means an in-person activity, class, tour, workshop, service, or similar experience offered by a Provider through the Platform.

“Gift Card” means a prepaid product or code, with its own SKU and selected value, that may be purchased through the Platform and redeemed for eligible purchases on Shaka Nomad.

“Gift Card Balance” means the value of one or more Gift Cards redeemed into an authenticated Customer wallet.

“Order” means the confirmed transaction resulting from Checkout. An Order may include one or more Experience bookings, Products, Gift Cards, shipping charges, taxes, discount codes, wallet balance, or a combination of these.

“Product” means a physical item sold or made available through the Platform, including Shaka Nomad merchandise such as T-shirts, caps, accessories, or other branded goods.

“Promotion” means any campaign, reward, referral offer, welcome bonus, coupon, discount, credit, or marketing incentive made available by Shaka Nomad.

“Wallet Balance” means the total balance available in the Customer’s Shaka Nomad wallet, including Account Credit, Gift Card Balance, and Bonus Credit, subject to the specific rules applicable to each balance type.

2. Purpose of the Wallet

Shaka Nomad may provide a wallet functionality allowing authenticated Customers to store and use eligible Platform balance during Checkout.

The wallet is intended to make future purchases easier and more flexible. It may include different types of balance, each with its own legal, accounting, expiry, refund, and usage rules.

Wallet Balance is not a bank account, deposit account, credit facility, investment product, e-money account, or general-purpose payment instrument. Wallet Balance may only be used inside the Shaka Nomad Platform for eligible purchases, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

3. Wallet Balance Categories

The Shaka Nomad wallet may include the following balance categories:

  • Account Credit;
  • Gift Card Balance;
  • Bonus Credit.

For customer convenience, Shaka Nomad may show a single available wallet balance and may also display the different balance categories separately for transparency.

4. Account Credit

Account Credit is balance issued to a Customer from an eligible refund, cancellation, order adjustment, support resolution, or manual account adjustment approved by Shaka Nomad.

Account Credit may arise, for example, when:

  • a Customer cancels an eligible Experience booking and chooses to keep the eligible refund in the wallet;
  • a Product order is cancelled or refunded and the Customer chooses wallet credit where permitted;
  • an entire Checkout is cancelled after payment has been captured and Shaka Nomad approves wallet credit;
  • Shaka Nomad issues a manual account adjustment as part of a support resolution.

Account Credit may be used only for eligible purchases on the Platform. It is not transferable, does not accrue interest, and is not redeemable for cash, except where required by mandatory law or expressly approved by Shaka Nomad.

Account Credit does not expire while the Customer account remains active, unless otherwise required by law, expressly stated at the time of issue, or resolved as part of account closure.

Where a Customer is legally entitled to a refund to the original payment method, Shaka Nomad may offer the Customer the option to receive the refund as Account Credit instead. This option is voluntary unless otherwise permitted by law or agreed in the applicable conditions.

5. Gift Cards

Shaka Nomad may sell Gift Cards through the Platform. A Gift Card is a Platform product and may have its own SKU, selected value, purchase date, redemption code, currency, and conditions of use.

Available Gift Card values may include:

  • EUR 50;
  • EUR 100;
  • EUR 200;
  • EUR 300;
  • EUR 500;
  • any other value displayed at Checkout.

A Gift Card may be purchased at Checkout and may be sent, delivered, or made available according to the conditions displayed at the time of purchase.

Unless otherwise stated, Gift Cards may be used only for eligible purchases on Shaka Nomad and cannot be exchanged for cash.

6. Gift Card Balance

Gift Card Balance is the value of one or more Gift Cards redeemed into an authenticated Customer wallet.

Authenticated Customers may redeem multiple Gift Cards into their wallet over time. Once redeemed, the value becomes Gift Card Balance linked to the Customer account.

Gift Card Balance may be used only for eligible purchases on Shaka Nomad. It is not redeemable for cash, does not accrue interest, and is not transferable except where expressly allowed by Shaka Nomad or required by mandatory law.

Gift Cards and Gift Card Balance do not expire unless an expiry date is clearly displayed before purchase, in the confirmation email, or in the applicable Gift Card conditions.

If Shaka Nomad applies an expiry date, the validity period shall be clearly communicated before purchase and shall comply with applicable law. Shaka Nomad may choose to apply a long validity period, such as five (5) years from purchase or issue, or no expiry date, subject to applicable law and operational requirements.

7. Direct Gift Card Use at Checkout

Checkout supports one (1) Gift Card Code entered directly at Checkout, unless expressly stated otherwise.

Guests may use one valid Gift Card Code directly at Checkout where supported. However, guests cannot use Wallet Balance because wallet access requires an authenticated account.

The supported flow for using multiple Gift Cards is:

Gift Card A + Gift Card B + Gift Card C → Gift Card Balance in Wallet → Checkout applies Wallet Balance.

Multiple Gift Cards are not entered as multiple separate Gift Card Code inputs at Checkout.

8. Bonus Credit

Bonus Credit is promotional balance granted free of charge by Shaka Nomad through campaigns, welcome bonuses, referral programs, “Bring a Friend” offers, loyalty rewards, customer rewards, support gestures, or other marketing actions.

Bonus Credit has no cash value, is not refundable, is not transferable, and may be limited to eligible Experiences, Products, countries, Customers, campaigns, minimum spend amounts, or other conditions.

Bonus Credit may expire according to the campaign terms shown when it is granted. If no expiry date is shown, Bonus Credit expires twelve (12) months after issue, unless Shaka Nomad states otherwise.

Bonus Credit may be reversed if the related Order, Booking, Product purchase, or qualifying action is cancelled, refunded, returned, disputed, charged back, marked as no-show where applicable, suspected of fraud, or found to breach the Promotion rules.

9. Welcome Bonuses

Shaka Nomad may offer welcome bonuses to new Customers who meet the conditions of the relevant campaign.

A welcome bonus may require the Customer to create an account, verify their email, complete a first eligible Checkout, enter a valid referral code, reach a minimum spend amount, or satisfy any other condition displayed in the campaign rules.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, welcome bonuses are granted as Bonus Credit and are not payable in cash.

Shaka Nomad may delay, withhold, cancel, or reverse a welcome bonus in cases of fraud, duplicate accounts, self-referral, payment dispute, cancellation, refund, return, chargeback, or breach of the campaign conditions.

10. “Bring a Friend” and Referral Rewards

Shaka Nomad may operate customer referral programs, including “Bring a Friend” campaigns, inviter rewards, invited-customer rewards, or similar Promotions.

The invited Customer may receive a welcome bonus only if the campaign conditions are met.

The inviting Customer may receive a referral reward only after the invited Customer completes the qualifying action stated in the campaign conditions.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, referral rewards are granted as Bonus Credit in the Customer’s Shaka Nomad wallet and are not cash commissions.

Referral rewards may be delayed, withheld, reversed, or cancelled where the related Order, Booking, Product purchase, or qualifying action is cancelled, refunded, returned, charged back, marked as no-show where applicable, suspected of fraud, self-referral, duplicate account abuse, code manipulation, or breach of the campaign rules.

Customer referral rewards and Affiliate cash commissions are separate programs unless Shaka Nomad expressly combines them in the Affiliate Dashboard or campaign conditions.

11. Discount Codes

Shaka Nomad may issue Discount Codes from time to time. A Discount Code reduces the payable amount of eligible items at Checkout according to the conditions of that code.

Checkout supports one (1) Discount Code per Checkout, unless expressly stated otherwise.

Discount Codes may be subject to conditions, including expiry date, eligible Experiences or Products, eligible countries, eligible Customers, minimum spend, maximum discount, campaign limits, and fraud checks.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Discount Codes have no cash value, are not refundable, are not transferable, and cannot be exchanged for money.

12. Use of Wallet Balance at Checkout

Authenticated Customers may apply available Wallet Balance during Checkout on eligible purchases.

Unless otherwise displayed at Checkout, a Customer may use the following combination in one Checkout:

  • one (1) Discount Code;
  • one (1) direct Gift Card Code;
  • available Wallet Balance, if the Customer is authenticated;
  • an accepted external payment method for any remaining payable amount.

The backend may apply as much eligible Wallet Balance as possible toward the remaining payable amount after discounts, restrictions, taxes, shipping charges, and item eligibility rules are applied.

Shaka Nomad may prevent Wallet Balance from being applied to certain items, including Gift Cards, stored-value products, wallet top-ups, cash-equivalent products, or any other excluded products.

13. Suggested Application Order

Unless otherwise displayed at Checkout, Shaka Nomad may apply value in the following order:

  1. Discount Code;
  2. Bonus Credit, especially where it expires earlier;
  3. Account Credit;
  4. Gift Card Balance;
  5. external payment method, such as card, Stripe, PayPal, or any other payment method displayed at Checkout.

Shaka Nomad may apply a different order where required for technical, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, campaign, or customer-protection reasons, provided the final payable amount is shown to the Customer before payment confirmation.

14. Restricted Uses

Wallet Balance, Account Credit, Bonus Credit, Gift Card Balance, Discount Codes, and promotional value cannot be used to purchase Gift Cards, wallet top-ups, cash-equivalent products, stored-value instruments, or similar items, unless expressly allowed by Shaka Nomad.

This restriction is intended to prevent fraud, abuse, double rewards, accounting loops, and unauthorized conversion of promotional or wallet value into cash-equivalent value.

15. Refunds Involving Wallet Balance

Where an Order or Booking was paid using a Discount Code, Gift Card Balance, Account Credit, Bonus Credit, Wallet Balance, and/or another payment method, any eligible refund will be calculated on the net amount actually payable after the Discount Code and any applicable Promotion were applied.

Discount Code value and Bonus Credit are promotional and are not refunded, exchanged for cash, or reissued unless Shaka Nomad decides otherwise or mandatory law requires it.

Amounts paid using Gift Card Balance will normally be returned as Gift Card Balance.

Amounts paid using Account Credit will normally be returned as Account Credit.

Amounts paid using Bonus Credit may be returned as Bonus Credit only where the campaign conditions allow it. If the Promotion has expired, has been reversed, or the campaign conditions are no longer met, the Bonus Credit may not be restored.

Amounts paid by card, PayPal, or another external payment method will normally be refunded to the original payment method.

Where payment-gateway processing costs are deductible under the applicable cancellation or refund policy, they apply only to documented third-party processing costs actually incurred for payment-gateway transactions, and not to purely internal wallet-balance adjustments unless such costs are actually incurred and documented.

16. Product Returns and Wallet Balance

If a Customer validly returns a Product or exercises an applicable withdrawal right, the refund will be handled according to the Terms and Conditions, applicable consumer law, and the Product return conditions displayed at Checkout.

If the Product was paid using Wallet Balance, the eligible refund may be returned to the same wallet balance category used for the purchase, where technically possible.

If the Product was paid partly by Wallet Balance and partly by an external payment method, the refund may be split between the original wallet source and the original external payment method.

17. Cancellations and Account Credit

Where a Customer is eligible for a refund after cancellation of an Experience, Product, or Order, Shaka Nomad may offer the Customer the option to receive the eligible amount as Account Credit instead of a refund to the original payment method.

If the Customer voluntarily chooses Account Credit, the credited amount may be used for eligible future purchases on the Platform and will not be redeemable for cash, except where mandatory law requires otherwise or Shaka Nomad expressly agrees.

18. Fraud, Abuse and Reversals

Shaka Nomad may refuse, suspend, cancel, reverse, limit, or investigate any Wallet Balance, Account Credit, Bonus Credit, Gift Card, Gift Card Balance, Discount Code, Promotion, Order, Booking, Product purchase, or referral reward where there is suspected fraud, abuse, chargeback, payment dispute, technical error, duplicate reward, unauthorized resale, self-referral, duplicate account use, code manipulation, breach of this Policy, or breach of the Platform terms.

If Shaka Nomad reverses a transaction, refund, chargeback, promotion, or reward, it may also adjust the related Wallet Balance accordingly.

Shaka Nomad may request information or documentation from the Customer where reasonably necessary to verify eligibility, prevent fraud, or comply with legal, accounting, tax, or regulatory obligations.

19. Loss, Theft or Unauthorized Use

Customers are responsible for keeping their account credentials and Gift Card Codes secure.

Loss, theft, unauthorized use, or disclosure of a Gift Card Code is the responsibility of the holder, unless caused by Shaka Nomad’s fault or mandatory law provides otherwise.

Shaka Nomad may refuse redemption where a Gift Card appears to be fraudulent, duplicated, altered, previously redeemed, resold without authorization, or obtained in breach of this Policy or the Platform terms.

20. Account Closure

Before closing an account, the Customer should review and use any available Wallet Balance.

Account Credit, Gift Card Balance, and Bonus Credit are linked to the authenticated Customer account and may not be available after permanent account deletion, except where restoration, refund, legal retention, or alternative treatment is required by applicable law or expressly approved by Shaka Nomad.

Bonus Credit may be lost on account closure, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.

Gift Card Balance and Account Credit will be handled according to their applicable conditions, accounting records, and mandatory consumer law.

21. Taxes, Accounting and Commission Treatment

Shaka Nomad may allocate discounts, wallet value, Gift Card Balance, Account Credit, Bonus Credit, taxes, shipping charges, refunds, reversals, and commissions between the items included in an Order according to the Platform’s technical, accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention rules.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in the Provider Dashboard, Commercial Agreement, campaign conditions, or written agreement with the Provider, Gift Card Balance and Account Credit are treated as Customer payment value and do not reduce the Provider’s payout base.

Platform-funded Bonus Credit or Discount Codes do not reduce the Provider’s payout base unless the campaign conditions or Provider agreement expressly state otherwise.

Provider-funded discounts, promotions, or commercial actions expressly accepted by the Provider may reduce the amount used for commission and payout calculation.

22. Affiliate and Referral Distinction

Affiliate commissions and customer referral rewards are separate programs unless Shaka Nomad expressly states otherwise.

Affiliate commissions are governed by the Affiliates Agreement and the Affiliate Dashboard.

Customer referral rewards, including “Bring a Friend” rewards, are normally granted as Bonus Credit and are governed by this Policy and the applicable campaign conditions.

23. Data Processing

Shaka Nomad may process wallet, gift card, discount, promotion, referral, order, refund, payment, chargeback, and fraud-prevention data to manage this Policy, process Checkouts, provide support, comply with legal and tax obligations, prevent fraud, and maintain accurate accounting records.

More information about personal data processing, legal bases, recipients, retention periods, and user rights is available in the Shaka Nomad Privacy Policy.

24. Changes to this Policy

Shaka Nomad may update this Policy from time to time. Registered users may be notified of material changes by email, dashboard notice, in-app notice, website notice, or any other reasonable method.

Continued use of the Platform, wallet, Gift Cards, Discount Codes, Bonus Credit, or Promotions after the updated Policy becomes effective means that the Customer accepts the updated Policy, unless mandatory law requires a different process.

25. Support

Customers can contact the Shaka Nomad Support Center for questions about Wallet Balance, Account Credit, Gift Cards, Gift Card Balance, Bonus Credit, Discount Codes, Promotions, referrals, refunds, suspected unauthorized use, or account closure.
